Dyeing Ginger Hair?

Hey, well I'm a male ginger and I'm bored so I thought I'd dye my hair a darker colour. I tried using the temporary stuff but it just doesn't seem to work. I'm thinking about trying the semi-permanent stuff but I'm not sure just in case the colour doesn't look right.

Does anybody have any tips/brands of hair dye to help me?

My hubby is one too. I'll tell you, his hair has major resistance to bleaching. A loong time ago, I did it once and a professional stylist did it to no avail.

You may have to just go with a darker shade of red. Auburn or something that may take better.

As a guy, if the permanent color is horrible you can chop it down low. Women can't really pull that off. So get some permanent color and do strand tests using your hair to see if you like it.

My niece is also ginger. she tried every semi colour and even bleached it. the best colour is a permanant Nice'n Easy med brown, its the only home box colour id recommend and it will cover te copper colour the semi's wont. you can get it in pharmacies, tescos, dunnes etc. keep in mind its a womans hair colour and always do a strand test first to check for allergies, direction are in the box. good luck!

Best advice is.......get to a DECENT hairdressing salon (Unisex) and chat with the manager(ess). If they are any good they will snip off a small piece of hair where it can't be seen and do a test on it with the colours of your choice. They should ALSO do a patch test on your skin to see if you react. They will then let you know how your hair reacted to it.....if it is going to damage your hair permanently it will make it fragile or split.....or if you are going to react your skin will show it.....Most importantly TALK TO A PROFESSIONAL!!!!

My son has copper gold hair (Ginger for all you uneducated ones out there!!) and he has always had compliments on how wonderful his hair looks because it shines.....maybe you could try getting some hair extensions in a different tone in instead of a colour......again chat with the professionals!
