How do you dye your own hair?

Right now I just like dyeing the tips of my hair and bangs. I typically get a family member to dye it for me, but they hate doing it. My hair is lower-back length so i can bring it forward to dye the tips with no problem, but how would i do my own bangs? I cut my own bangs, but thats because i cut them so i can still see the ends. What is a good way for me to dye (and bleach every so often) my bangs? Using a mirror isn't a great idea due to my complete lack of coordination and I cannot see more than a few inches in front of my fact without my glasses.

Also, I may start bleaching and dyeing the entirety of my hair. How would I do that on my own? And if i wanted multiple colors, how would I do that on my own? In a year or so I will be moving away to a college far away from anyone I know, so it would be great to know how to do this on my own. Thanks!

How do you dye your own hair?

Put the gloves on, and then put in the dye as if it was leave in conditioner! Make sure you scrub it into every part of your hair. If you wanted to do different parts different colours, you could pin aside the parts that you dont want to dye the colours you are doing.

Good luck

A question about gray hair?

i'm in my early thirties and have gray hair. the thing is that it seems like at times i have less gray hair than at other times, and every now then i'll find hairs that are both gray and brown. so, my question is: if the natural color is at the roots and the gray is at the tips, is the hair turning gray or is it turning back to its natural color?

A question about gray hair?

As we get older, the pigment cells in our hair follicles gradually die. When there are fewer pigment cells in a hair follicle, that strand of hair will no longer contain as much melanin and will become a more transparent color - like gray, silver, or white - as it grows. As people continue to get older, fewer pigment cells will be around to produce melanin. Eventually, the hair will look completely gray.

People can get gray hair at any age. Some people go gray at a young age - as early as when they are in high school or college - whereas others may be in their 30s or 40s before they see that first gray hair. How early we get gray hair is determined by our genes. This means that most of us will start having gray hairs around the same age that our parents or grandparents first did.

Gray hair is more noticeable in people with darker hair because it stands out, but people with naturally lighter hair are just as likely to go gray. From the time a person notices a few gray hairs, it may take more than 10 years for all of that person's hair to turn gray.

A question about gray hair?

Grey hair is like any hair...it falls out-grows back in..You are a work in Progress. I don't color mine..it was brown-now only maybe 75% brown-the rest streaked gray....I don't know what it is about it-maybe because EVERYONE colors their hair--but perhaps it]s really because it's not--it attracts a lot of NICE comments..so why spend money coloring it if this is the reaction! Plus--it's free! What a deal! To me it's a no brainer-and I refuse to worry about it.

Best beauty tips/secrets?

what are some of your best beauty tips/secrets? makeup? hair? skin? tan? nails? etc.... anything. best tip gets 10points :)

[i am just wondering because i am bored... haha]

Best beauty tips/secrets?

I've got several for you!!

Use vaseline on your lips then brush over them, with a toothbrush, to remove the dead skin. If you do this religiously EVERY night you will never have chapped lips again!

Use moisterizer on your face every night. No exception. Even if you have oily skin like myself. Your skin produces oil to compensate for lack of moisture. By appropriately hydrating your face your skin will cease over production of oil which is the #1 cause of breakout (clogged pores)

If you have a breakout use white toothpaste. A lil dab will do you. Wait till it dries then go to sleep with it on your face. The next morning your pimple will be significantly downsized!

If you have an inflamed pimple...red and nasty...use Visine. A lil squirt on your pimple will do wonders.

Use conditioner on your hair first before you shampoo. You will tell a difference in your hair immediately.

Hope these tips help!

Best beauty tips/secrets?

Rinse your hair out in cold water at the end of your shower, it works great to make mine silky and smooth! And when shaving my legs, I cover them with Bath and Body works body wash instead of regular shaving cream before shaving.

Best beauty tips/secrets?

if u put toothpaste on a pimple before u go bed it will be allmost gone the next day and also visene will make a pimple not red so u cant even see them ( =

Best beauty tips/secrets?

LOTS of water drink drink drink at least 10 cups a day.. plenty of sleep and moisturize before bed and in the AM..Always wash off your makeup no matter how tired you are but use a very gentle cleanser!! and Drink more water!!

Best beauty tips/secrets?

To get rid of pimples %26amp; blackheads fast, fill a bowl up with boiling hot water and hold your face over it with a paper towell. Then wash it with whatever cleaner you want and rinse it off with cold water. The hot water at the beginning opens your pores to clean it better. The cold water closes them so they stay clean. This also helps them shrink if you have large pores because of acne.

Put mayo in your hair once a week for an hour. It strips all the bad stuff off and repairs your hair. It works awesome!

Best beauty tips/secrets?

HAIR - "Mane -n- Tale" shampoo and conditioner is awesome [: I always heard that it made your hair grow faster, but it also made your hair coarse and dry. I have naturally oily hair, so I thought I'd try it. I died my hair a obscene color so I could tell how much my hair grew.

Well, for me, it didn't make my hair coarse and dry. It actually made it nice, and soft, and didn't get oily either. Also in a month my hair grew quite a bit more then it usually did too. I'm pleased.

SKIN - everyone says Proactiv is awesome blah blah blah, well unfortunately if you have sensitive skin, it's just going to irritate blemishes more, and cause more breakouts. If you have sensitive skin, stay away from Benzoyl Peroxide!! If your wanting a product like Proactiv, but have sensitive skin, try this http://www.acnecomplex.com its excellent for sensitive skin, and actually will clear up your face quicker!

HAIR - again [: if you flat iron your hair alot, a good tip (and trick) is to blow dry your hair first. Some people just let there hair air dry and do there make up or something while they wait. That actually fries and damages your hair even more, plus your hair won't always be perfectly strait. Blow dry your hair out as strait as you can get it, even if you have wavy/frizzy or curly hair. Then run the flat iron over it. It makes your hair alot softer, shinier, smoother, and it will take alot longer for you to see noticable heat damage :D

What i've found out is that going to a makeup store such as Sephora, you'll find so many products. Sampling them really gives you a chance to experience some cute makeup styles and then possibly buy them. You can go online or find the nearest store. All of their products are great, fun, and original.

Hi there,

1) NAILS

~ Get your nails done at least once a month. Even if you don't get a color or just get clear get them shaped up and stuff. Go to a nail salon a get a manicure and pedicure. This is the best way for you nails to be healthy!

~ Don't buff your nails yourself often. If you buff them too much they start to hurt.

~ Drink lots of milk. The best way to get healthy looking nails is to drink lots of milk!!

~Paint your nails! Treat them with respect and paint them your favorite color!

2) Hair

~Don't always blow dry your hair! Let your hair dry naturally some days! This helps you hair stay more healthier and not so dry and rough.

~Don't always wear your hair up in a ponytail. This isn't that good for your hair. Try limiting your ponytail days for only 3 times a week or twice or sometime. It is good for your hair to be down and not always up.

~Get you hair cut every month. Even if it is a inch. This is the best way to aviod split ends or dead ends.

~ When going swimming try to wet your hair in a shower before going in the chlorinc (Sorry if spelt wrong). This helps your hair not smell like the pool!!!

3) Makeup

~Make sure to wash your face everynight! It is NOT good at all sleeping with your makeup on in the night! It leads to pimples and disgusting stuff!

~ Try not to wear too much makeup. Boys like girls that are NOT obsesed with makeup! And it look way better when a girl has makeup that looks natural!

4) Skin

~ Wash you face EVERY NIGHT!!! It's the best thing to do to avoid pimples and zits. I recomend to use Proactiv. I love it!

~ When Proactiv says to use it twice a day don't! It's best to use it only once a day. Which is at night.

~When in the shower always use a nice shower gel or shower wash. Treat yourself!

~Drink as much water as possible! The best thing you can do for your body is drink water! This helps you also with pimples.

I hope I could help you! Remember, keep on smiling and be yourself! Just keep inmind these tips and these should help!

No make-up. Wow.

I need makeup tips/advice?

Since you have light reddish hair. I would recommend that you use a light green or brown-golden eye shadow. Use either one and lightly sweep it on the top to the lid where it creases. But dont go over the crease. Use a light skin color shade in between the color and the bottom of lid. Report It

I need makeup tips/advice?

Use light browns and greens for your eyeliner, and dont apply too heavily. Red hair and hazel eyes need a dark or interesting color to make your eyes pop against the hair.

Use a light color for cheeks, like a coral or pale pink.

For gloss go for light or clear colors, nothing really dark red or brown. To go out at night go darker on the lips.

I hate foundation....but a lot of people need it. Make sure it matches your skin tone.

And whatever you do, don't forget mascara. Not black, brown, because you have red hair and black eyelashes would have people knowing that it was fake, and the point is to have it look more on the natural side, unless youre a showgirl.

:)

I need makeup tips/advice?

i honestly think that eye make up is everything. but less is more when it comes to eyeliner cause more is just ew. like aw. dont even go there but anyways. and mascura is always funn. i think try to aim for a more fun look. its sweeter simplyer. and way cute

I need makeup tips/advice?

wear BROWN mascara, black lashes with red hair looks soooo fake!!! n try peachy pink eyeshadow... eyeliner COPPER or GOLD!!!!!!! trust me, yull look abSOLUTELY stuNNNNNing!!!!!!!!!

I need makeup tips/advice?

u should totally use use light colors not dark

I need makeup tips/advice?

gold eye shawdow, eyeliner thats black, mascara. dont put eyeliner on top eye lid

I need makeup tips/advice?

Okay , i would only focus on your eyes. Because putting

too much all over looks messy. Pick a feature and put

all the attention to it. Since you have fair skin, big eyes, and

freckels i would focus on the eyes. Do a sheer scented/flavored

lip gloss (not tinted or very lightly tinted ) make sure it has

a nice sweet smell to it.

As for the eyes you have hazel. Do this get some eyeshadow

in these colors : orange (yes orange), forest green, and

purple. This are polar colors to your current eye color and

they will make your eye color pop ( especially the orange )

dont put it all over the lid, Keep it close to the lashes.

Now use a very thick charcoal pencil ( eyeliner) take

your time when you do it . Thick lashes too.

Another fun thing to do is wear a nuetral eyelid color

thick eyeliner, but wear a colored mascara-like hot pink

or purple. You want to put alot of emphasis on your eyes.

Also dont underestimate the value of blush. I dont

know what color you need cause i cant see you.

But most fair skinned people look good in a peach

shade.

Make sure your eyebrows are plucked to look natural

not over done. Too thin never looks good. Keep it

as natural looking as you can.

I need makeup tips/advice?

I would suggest using mark. Make up products. I would use c-thru-u Beautifying Sheer Tint in Mark 1 for a foundation. Then Powder-matic loose powder (or if you have oily skin Matte-nificent oil absorbing powder) for your powder. Then depending on the type of look you want you could use mark's Instant Vacation Bronzing Powder as a blush and a little on your eyelids or you could use Good Glowing Blush which comes in a few different shades that you could choose from depending on the look you're going for. mark. also has great eye shadows to choose from. Then depending on what you would rather wear you could use a Glow Baby Glow lip gloss or a Dew Drenched lip color depending on if you like lip gloss or lipstick.

mark. also has many other great make up products and accessories to choose from the ones that I have named are all just ones that I am suggesting.

I am an Avon and mark. representative so if you have any questions you can surely ask.

I hope this helps.

I also have very fair skin and freckles. What I did was I went to Macy's to the girls at the makeup counters there and asked their advice since tanning was pretty much out of the question with my super fair skin. Every skin type is still different of course but I'd suggest talking to them definitely. They also came up with some great eyeshadow combinations to bring out my eyes while still looking pretty natural. What they eventually suggested to me as for foundation was something that was probably two shades darker than my actual skin tone but blended well looked fantastic-like I Actually had pigment! They also suggested using a light bronzer. I was very happy. And for hair, definitely consult your stylist. They're the professionals after all =~_^=

I need makeup tips/advice?

there are some great makeup and skincare tips here

I need makeup tips/advice?

Don't buy into the need to be tan and dark. Light skin and freckles are gorgeous. You don't need to change you to be beautiful because you already are beautiful.

I don't know what you already do for makeup, but you could do a light eye liner, mascara and lip gloss. It will look fresh, natural, and beautiful. Also, if you really play up color on the eyes then use more neutral colors on the rest of your face. Its great to accentuate one part to draw focus to different things. Play around have fun. :)

I need makeup tips/advice?

jst user natural materials ....if u r going to use the artificial ur face may b dul or u wont look gud ne more coz it sumtimes not suits certain faces...so try to avoid artificial materials n apply natural thingssss

I need makeup tips/advice?

just hide your face with sunglasses like your avatar

i know i'm funny, but i'm for real %26lt;wink wink%26gt;

I need makeup tips/advice?

Don't cover your skin with foundation-just use it to blend over red spots, or to even out. If you do this-have a professional match it up for you. Light skin is hard to match and you don't want to be blotchy or look like you have a "mask".

Use a concealer for more "problem" areas. Boing by Benefit is a beast.

Blush is the most important-to look "flushed" make sure to hit the apple of your cheek and draw it back lightly. A peachy pink would be great-maybe Orgasm from Nars. Very natural.

Then a natural eye-mascara on the outside corners only, in a blue or green mascara or a super black. That will make eye "pop". Start at the root and wiggle the brush back and forth for more definition. I like False Eyelashes-Prescriptives, Bad Gal Lash-Benefit, and Lash Perfection-Max Factor.

Finish off with a natural looking color that is harmonious to you blush. Don't do a nude because it will wash you out. The MAC counter is the lipstick goddess's best friend.

If you aren't familiar with these brands, try sephora.com or the brands websites. They are having some great deals this month with shipping free and the like.

Hope this helps-good luck!

White highlights for black hair?

Hello everyone! I have black hair and I really want white hair on the tips of the hairs on top of my hair. Many people think I am joking but I am not, I really want to highlight it. I've seen people with short black hair and blonde highlights, so I want white highlights on my short black hair too. Any suggestions to find white highlight products?

White highlights for black hair?

The chances of getting black hair white before it breaks off is about 1% And getting all of the ends white .005% Sorry it's just to hard on the hair to try and strip out that much pigment. Something that you might consider is getting white hair extensions that can be put in as highlights. Sorry for the bad news!

White highlights for black hair?

Cruella De'vil much?

White highlights for black hair?

get it done at a salon.

White highlights for black hair?

if it goes ok with ur skin(if ur not to pale) than go for it! white highlights and pale skin-not a good combo

White highlights for black hair?

whit ot will work

White highlights for black hair?

ugh umm i dont think thats such a good idea ya umm NO

White highlights for black hair?

you need to go to a salon and ask for bleach to bleach your hair fist. if you don't you get like an orange color. then ask them for the closest thing they have to white.

White highlights for black hair?

i say dont do it yourll look like curella deville

White highlights for black hair?

Personally i wouldnt highlight it white just for a couple of reasons first being that u would have to sit there for quite a while for ur hair to lift so many levels to a white, secondly it could seriously damage your hair making it brittle, dry, strawed etc

White highlights for black hair?

it will look horrible but what you do is use a chemical lightener such as bleach or a non-ammonia product by loreal professional (my fav) and lift the color by leaving it on under a heat lamp for fifteen minutes. then you color over the bleached/color stripped hair with white hair dye.

White highlights for black hair?

hi,

please get this professionally done. black hair is the most difficult to get light because of all the colors in your hair. colors that make up black hair... orange...purple...red. if you try this yourself you will get stuck in one of those colors and end up seeing a professional anyway. are you sure you want white? why not a nice blond? if you are wanting it white, for sure see a pro...you don't want to end up looking like a skunk's back by doing this yourself.

i hope this helped. :)

White highlights for black hair?

That is so awesome, but if you want to highlight ur hair white it can't just be the top of ur hair. You should put them in streaks of white. You have to go to a salon though, since you have black hair it's going to be hard to get some of those locks white. When you do this aim for a snow white color that will look cool.

Why don’t you hair stylists know what a freaking inch is!?

Do they like “teach?you what an inch is in hair styling school? Do they compare it to a ruler and tell you why it’s different than what every other single person in the US considers an inch? One hairdresser told me, “Yeah an inch. 3 fingers.?3 FINGERS!! WHAT??? It’s like an inch and a half AT THE TIP of your little fingers. And you don’t measure hair at the tip of your fingers, you hold the hair through the MIDDLE of your fingers to measure. That’s more like 2 INCHES!

THEN AFTER you have ALREADY cut too much off, you go trimming and texturizing, cutting yet ANOTHER 2 inches off.

By the end of the haircut, you’ve cut FOUR TIMES more hair than I asked you to. Seriously, I look at the floor at the end of the cut and there isn’t a single hair SHORTER than an inch and a half.

Why don’t you hair stylists know what a freaking inch is!?

No clue, I am still growing my idiotic mullet that the hairdresser gave my when I asked for an inch off. When I saw it in the mirror I was like ooh my goshh, then I was like um can you fix this? And she like cut it from my shoulders to my chin I was like I am NOT paying for this and I walked out.

Why don’t you hair stylists know what a freaking inch is!?

yeah I know! this happens to me ALL the time! You say you want a trim and you come out with 5 inches gone! I have NO Idea why they do it but I completely agree!

Why don’t you hair stylists know what a freaking inch is!?

you are so right. they freakin are idiots. omg they do this 2 me all the time. just walk off and pay shi*

Why don’t you hair stylists know what a freaking inch is!?

maybe you just found the screw up who didn't go to school or didn't pay alot of attention in class. one time my aunt did that saying i had serious split ends. they might do that cause they are jealous when they see a guy with healthier hair than them. Female stylist can be very petty about hair, sorry.

Why don’t you hair stylists know what a freaking inch is!?

I have the opposite. When I ask them to cut 3 inches, they cut 1.

Why don’t you hair stylists know what a freaking inch is!?

I went to get my hair cut about a month ago. I even brought a picture to show the woman what to do. Somehow she interpreted that the back of the woman's hair in the picture looked like complete crap and decided to put in these awful layers. Not even normal layers - layers that it looks like a 3 year old would do. Its as if she took a weed whacker to the back of my head and started abritrarily removing huge chunks of my hair. I didn't ask for layers, she didn't tell me she was doing layers, she didn't ask if I wanted layers, and the woman in the picture didn't even have layers.

At the end of the haircut she decided she'd show me what she had done. She had managed to take a round brush and a hair dryer and fashion the back of my head to look like a hairy lightbulb. Yet she still managed to make the front look pretty (although a half an inch shorter than the back. I told her I wanted my hair to be shorter and she only cut the front of my hair shorter). Getting home I discovered that she missed pieces of my hair that went about a half an inch longer than the back of my hair. I have no idea what she was thinking and now I'm just waiting for my hair to grow out so I can fix it.

She's the only bad experience I've had in about 8 years

Fuller hair?

any tips on how to grow thicker hair naturally? i want to try this hairstyle, but it looks way better w/thicker hair, so any tips would b useful

Fuller hair?

VEGETAL SILICA! or also know as horsetail root. It is absolutely amazing! Your hair will grow thicker and faster if you use it consistently. You can buy it in nutrition stores either in capsul form or liquid form. It will also help your nails grow stronger and is good for your skin. You can buy bottles in a variety of sizes. If you are in doubt... go for a smaller bottle first.

Fuller hair?

use volume products.

try turning your head upside down and blowdrying it.

there is this stuff called fancy-full you can buy too.

it makes your hair appear fuller.

old ladies use it

LOL

Fuller hair?

get layers

Fuller hair?

wash ur hair with thickening shampoo and use herbal essen's orange bottle which will give ur hair volume and a boost

Fuller hair?

drop some dough and go to a professional salon...they can tell you and really make your hair work how you want!

Fuller hair?

Get a shampoo/conditioner to promote thicker hair. Also for the style u may be able to add just a few weave hair piece to accomplish this. That is what most star celebs do.

Fuller hair?

When I want my hair to appear thicker I turn my head upside down when I wash and condition it, like as if your washing your hair over the side of the tub. It really does make my hair seem fuller.

Fuller hair?

any-

Fuller hair?

For styles that require thicker hair, you might consider extensions. They have a lot better quality extensions or clip-in hair these days, some even made with human hair.

Fuller hair?

for just a quick way is to bend down brush your hair spray it while bent over, then when to stand up your hair will appear to be fuller just fix it a little and spray again

Fuller hair?

i suggest you comb olive oil in your hair. this will naturally volumeize the hair, whilst giving it a healthy and nice smelling touch.

New Hair Cut? curly hair, long, ideas?

I was thinking of getting a hair cut..some thing major i think iwant. my hair is long and curly...not tight curly or really big ones...i have bangs that come down half way down my face which i usually strighten (sometimes) and put them to the side...i was thinking of cutting my hair to the tip of my sholders but i dontk now what kind of style would look good

as well i wouldnt say i look good with a middle part..i always keep my hair on a side part (when i strighten it) but when i leave it naturally curly as it is i just push it back and there is no distinct part really...

so i want a new haircut that looks good when my hair is naturally curly and something that wont make my head look round since i have curls...

i kind of have a pear shaped face so i would like to bring the attention away from the bottom half of my face and 'expand' my forehead....also i wouldnt mind growing my bangs out either since i dont like them very much at the moment..

so any ideas? suggestions?

New Hair Cut? curly hair, long, ideas?

You probably should NOT cut your hair to your shoulders. It sounds like I have the same kind of hair as you do, I'm Italian and my hair is down to my waist, and if you have thick curly hair and you cut it to your shoulders it ends up being a poofy triangle. Have you asked your hairdresser for any ideas? You can search hairstyles on line and your hairdresser can tell you if they would work for you. If you do want to cut it I suggest keeping it at least two to three inches below the shoulders. Hope this was helpful!

New Hair Cut? curly hair, long, ideas?

just keep it long

New Hair Cut? curly hair, long, ideas?

Hilary Duff is a very beautifull person. For her hair I would reccomend for you to first go to your hairstylist and take several pictures of the Hillarys hair do. Try to get the same or similar haircut.

http://www.beautyriot.com/HTML/Duff_Hila...

Keep in mind that many of the celebrity hairstylists use extensions to give them that nice look. Second I would use a volumizer after you shower. Then blowdry your hair to get volume and then curl it. I found some real cool websites that may help you. Keep in mind though that practice makes perfection.

Regarding her make-up emphasize on your eyes. I would first use a nice light foundation on the face and a duo fibre brush or buffer brush to make it look nice and clean (you can find them at www.maccosmetics.com or at Target). Then make sure your eyebrows are very well shaped and outlined. For the eyes I like to use what's called "paint" from MAC.It's a creamy smooth primer that you put on your eyelid and then you put your eyeshadow on top. I can almost guarantee that all if not many celebrity make-up artist use this. And to do your eyeshadow always use brushes. They will always give you that nice, smooth, sexy look. You can either get expensive ones from Macys or Nordstrom or inexpensive ones at Target from Sonia Kashuk. They are very good quality brushes. I have compared them to my mac brushes and they are of good standards. Then finish off your eyes by adding eyelashes if you want. Or using a real good mascara. I use Maybeline Volume.

For eyeshadows I always used to use MAC but recently I have found a great line at Longs Drugs. It's called NYX $7.00 for the trio ones and $5.00 for the single eyeshadows. (www.nyxcosmetics.com) They have great eyeshadows from neutral colors to really eye catching crazy ones. They are very affordable and you can't tell the difference from the expensive eyeshadows out there.

Last but not least blend a nice warm color blush on your cheeks and finish of with a natural looking lip color. GOOD LUCK!

Highlighting permed hair?

i usually get a perm every 3months. the last time i got one was in september when shool started. i want to highlight my hair today (the do it yourself). is okay? it says not on extensively permed or relaxed hair....but im going to stop getting a perm and grow it out. so is it okay if i use the highlighter on the tips of my hair?

Highlighting permed hair?

i perm my mom's hair, and i have given her dark blonde high lights in her hair also. we had to wait a few weeks after the perm. the color seems to fall right out of permed hair tho. but i think if youve waited long enough since your last perm, it should be alright.

Highlighting permed hair?

yeah.

Highlighting permed hair?

u can not do this my fatha police ohhh arest

Highlighting permed hair?

it is never good to do double process to your hair. if you perm your hair i don't suggest highlighting it too because it can and most likely will fried your hair. the only highlighting you might be able to do is a color highlight which has no bleach just a color base. if you are a Blondie then it's a no no and if you are a brunette then the color highlight is ok just as long as you don't us any bleach to highlight your hair. but using any product in the store will dry out your hair and it might end up costing you more money. another thing is it will relax your curl out a little. the combination of highlights and perms are the two things us hairstylist do not like to do. good luck

I'm highlighting my hair right now... HELP!?

HALF of my hair is the blone I want, but the other half is not (closer to the tips of the hair). Is it safe to leave it on until the color is balanced closer to the tips?

I'm highlighting my hair right now... HELP!?

just as long as it is on the scalp bleach.-the longest would be about an hour-tops-you dont want to do too much damage to your hair. it wouldnt take so long if you put heat to it. if you are using color-it might not lift-unless it is the same color you used last time. leave it on no longer than 45 minutes if its color-if it doesnt lift by then...then it wont and you will have to find something else or settle for whatever it turns out to be.

I'm highlighting my hair right now... HELP!?

what are you using and how long has it been on?

I'm highlighting my hair right now... HELP!?

you can leave it on.. but make sure you only leave on the part that you want lighter. i would suggest washing your hair and blowdrying it to make sure it's the right color before you re-bleach it. OH and make sure when you wash it you use EXTREMELY moisturising conditioner... or you get MAJOR dandruff from the bleach! (i know from experience lol)

but ya its safe to leave the bleach in... but make sure you don't leave it for too long!!!

good luck!

I'm highlighting my hair right now... HELP!?

the hair devolops faster at the roots because ov the heat escaping from your head. it should be ok to leave on abit longer tho!!

I'm highlighting my hair right now... HELP!?

rinse it off .. dry it and re apply it to the part of the hair that you want lighter.. dont put it on where it is already where u want it to be

.if you do.. it will cause breakage

Hair help again!?

The only way to really know is to try. I think it will turn out good depending on what color you are dying it. Also look online and maybe next time you go to get your hair cut ask.

Hair help again!?

Dye your hair blonde and tell your hairdresser that you want shag hair. Wet it then dry it every day to give it a bouncy type look...

Hairderssers, help!!! How do you cut your own hair?

I had very long hair for about 12 years until yesterday. My husband chopped it off at my ears. I want to somehow make the tips of the hair look normal without going to a salon. I was thinking about layering it myself. I have watched the hair dresser layer my hair time and time again over the years and think I have it all figured out. I am just looking for some guide or instructions or something to give me a few tips or something that I haven't thought of. I can't seem to find anything, though.

Hairderssers, help!!! How do you cut your own hair?

You will find a lot about cutting hair here:

http://www.hairfinder.com/howto/how_to_c...

Hairderssers, help!!! How do you cut your own hair?

Your husband chopped off your hair? Was he assaulting you? Did you call the police? Are you alright?

Addition: Thanks for the extra info. Your original post sounded awful. If you want to blunt the tips, your husband can layer it a bit to soften the look.

Hairderssers, help!!! How do you cut your own hair?

Well let help you. All you have to do is use moose or lite hair jell. I would put a little curl to it. then apply the hair jell or moose. I've had this same problem, this works.

Hairderssers, help!!! How do you cut your own hair?

oh wow did you want it cut? hair cutting is hard to do it yourself if you don't know exactly what to do... id suggest going to a hairdresser! Sorry...

Hairderssers, help!!! How do you cut your own hair?

Please go to a salon. That way you'll be assured of a good result.

Hairderssers, help!!! How do you cut your own hair?

ok well....1st you put your hair in 2 sections from ear to ear then you bring the front section up section by section bye section and cut it to the length of the layer you want....after that you make shur it is even the blend it....for the back you measure the back to the front section by section you may need some help from some one for the back......me i would just go to a salon but try this if you REALLY dont want to

Hairderssers, help!!! How do you cut your own hair?

Don't cut your own hair it will look obvious! Got to an expert especially for layering.

Hairderssers, help!!! How do you cut your own hair?

I would recommend going to a salon, but you could try razor cutting the ends a bit to give it a little texture. You can buy a razor comb at any beauty supply place.

Hairderssers, help!!! How do you cut your own hair?

I think u should go to a Solon because if u mess it up it takes a long to grow back, please go to a Solon then u know it will be nice and look professional, no matter how many times u have watched your hair dresser do it, it is allot harder than it looks, good luck

Hairderssers, help!!! How do you cut your own hair?

I didnt even read your question just because the headline said enough! You dont cut your own hair! Its not possible to give yourself an efficient layered haircut! There are many angles for different layered cuts that you need to bring the hair too, you also need to follow a guideline which you cannot do through the back of the head, how do you plan to cut a blunt line to maintain the length in the back? Haircutting is an art as well as a mathamatical equation that one cannot properly achieve by themselves! No licensed stylist that I ever encountered would attempt to cut their own hair because they know the results would not be even! Have a stylist correct the cut you have before the situation escalades to something more severe and unfixable! You may think you have it figured out so i want to know how you do uniform layers? First you have to start with blunt cut by sectioning the hair into four quadrants, then after the blunt level is maintained you have to take a section down the middle of the back of your head (if your hair is longer than shoulder length you pull it straight out to a 90 degree angle and follow that up to the crown, if its shorter than shoulder length it starts at a 45 degree angle) this is what you need to do just to acheive a guideline... Not gonna happen sweetie! Id love to see someone cut a guideline in the back by pulling the hair straight out at 90 degrees! It takes years to perfect haircutting... Licensed stylist have to be in school between 1-2 and a half years before they are liable to take a stateboard examination that decides whether they capable of stylist title! I've had many balsy clients that thought they knew how it was done and came to me for a fix... and it never is an easy fix! Im not trying to be mean Im trying to convince you the importance of having a stylist take over at this point (you could end up having holes in the cut that can only be fixed by cutting it extremely short or by a lengthy process of growing it out)... Mark me negative as you please youve been warned of the consequences! If your worried about money go to a Cost Cutters or other discounted franchise! Doesnt matter your husband never went to school to be a licensed barber/cosmetologist... Therefor he is winging it and has no clue what he is doing!

Hairderssers, help!!! How do you cut your own hair?

My good woman, haven't you quite learnt your lesson yet?! Get yourself to your regular hairdresser at once, make it ABSOLUTELY CRYSTAL CLEAR right off the bat EXACTLY what you want and permit a professional to achieve it for you.You don't have it figured out, because if you did, there would be no need for this posting(!). Please quit while you're ahead, there's no shame in admitting defeat :-).

Good for you that you were able to obtain long hair,so don't wreck all your good work thus far by getting experimental with scissors at this stage of the game(Smile).

Hair dye helpp?

whats a good brand of hair dye i can use to dye the tips of my hair? brands that i can find in ride aidd or like cvs

Hair dye helpp?

Hydrience is great! I have used it many many times. They also have alot of colors to choose from and they are reasonably priced. If you are trying to tip your hair blonde then I recommend Frost and Tip ( I think it is Loreal or Clairol) It works great (it is for bleaching) and covers up dark hair without turning other colors.

Hair dye helpp?

Garnier 100 % color =]]

Hair dye helpp?

It does not matter what brand. Just stay with in your hair limits. If your hair is previously colored on the tips, you need to remove that color first. Then decide what color your want to put on the ends.

If you do not have color on your hair: proceed by picking in the range of; 2 shades lighter and up to 2 shades darker than your natural color and you will achieve a close match to the color you see on the box. If you do not follow these simple guide lines you will have a mess. Then you will have to pay a professional to fix it. $$$$

Hair dye helpp?

try garnier chic.. works great and full of shine!!

How to remove permanent hair dye weeks later?

I died my hair a chestnut brown 3 weeks ago and it turned out to be black. But the tips of my hair are black along with a few strands throughout and the rest is a reddish brown color. How can I remove the hair color without completely ruining my hair. I figure if i dye it again, the darker spots will just get darker....what should I do?

How to remove permanent hair dye weeks later?

get it professionally stripped. i am all for the DIY kits, but i don't think you should mess with it anymore. once it returns to normal, let it be for a little bit, then try a lighter shade once more.

How to remove permanent hair dye weeks later?

Make sure you wash your hair ALOT! The color will soon fade, also try putting lemon juice on your hair and going out into the sun. Also try putting beer in it, (if you have random beer cans lying around your house) :) You could also just go to the grocery store and buy a box brand of hair dye and change your hair back to the color you want.

How to remove permanent hair dye weeks later?

you should just shave it all off and buy a wig in any color you like

How to remove permanent hair dye weeks later?

I recommend going to a hair salon that specializes in color correction but they are very expensive. When you make an appointment be sure and tell them it is for color correction not just "color" so you can find out the cost and so they will book enough time to complete the process.

If that isn't an option for you, I would use a strong detergent (i.e. Dawn) to remove as much of the permanent color as possible then apply a temporary color (without ammonia). The temporary colors without ammonia are not too damaging to the hair but will last only 4-6 weeks. Be absolutely sure that the product you purchase does not contain ammonia. You will probably have to apply the temporary color every 4-6 weeks for several months. When you select a temporary color, chose a color that is at least one shade lighter than you want it to turn out because the result is usually a shade darker than what appears on the box.

Use a moisturizing condition immediately after applying the color and each time you shampoo. If you shampoo every day try to reduce shampooing to every other day. A lot of the inexpensive drug store conditioners won't be moisturizing enough. Select a conditioner for dry and/or colored hair.

If you need to purchase the conditioner at a drug store, try Nexus or Aussie deep 3 minute miracle moisture treatment.

I would avoid any other drug store conditioners regardless of their "claims" of giving you salon-results at home.

Salon products are often sold for less money at a chain hair salon such as Great Clips or Fiesta than they are at an expensive salon and spa but they are the exact some products. Tigi Catwalk has a good moistening shampoo and conditioner called Oatmeal and Honey. Matrix has a line of Color-Smart products that are would be an option to try.

You can also call the 800-number hotline for the company that manufactured the permanent color you used. They will give you advise on how to improve your color and condition of your hair.

My hair is shoulder length...I have human hair clip in extensions but they never seem to blend well

real hair...the bottom half of my hair always sort of stick out underneath so it looks like i have a huge patch of underneath short hair and then all the long hair extensions...any tips on how to blend it bettter?

My hair is shoulder length...I have human hair clip in extensions but they never seem to blend well with my?

You can try to put your hair underneath in a french twist and put your clip in extensions over the twist. Here's a video that shows you how to do that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuVD5aFwA...

My hair is shoulder length...I have human hair clip in extensions but they never seem to blend well with my?

go to a salon with them, and ask for them to blend them in. they'll put them in and then cut them in layers etc. so they look more natural.

My hair is shoulder length...I have human hair clip in extensions but they never seem to blend well with my?

Sounds like some layers with a chipping technique, have your stylist bring everything straight up to cut.. not out. But maybe your hair needs to be alittle longer as well. Use Protein followed with a moisturizer not a conditioner.

Will give strength to your hair and help it grow quicker.

I have straight hair. Right now 2 inches of my roots are my natural colour (dark brown) and the rest of my hair is blonde. I've always dyed my hair a readish colour until i tried the bloned. Now i;m looking for something different. I was thinking of dying ym hair black and have some purple in. Should i get black hair with purple highlights or black hair with purple tips? What do you think would look hotter? Any other ideas for clour would be great too. I'm going to a salon to get this done so i know it will be done right!

Thanks for your help!

Should i get purple highlights or purple tips?

well, technically, if they are any color but blonde, they are called low lights... and you should definately get the low lights and not the tips... and do it really sparsely. Too much is going to look over done. Make it discreet :)

How much should you tip your hair dresser if you are paying around $140?

nothing

How much should you tip your hair dresser if you are paying around $140?

20% = $28 or so

How much should you tip your hair dresser if you are paying around $140?

at least 10% if you really like what he/she did you could tip more. if you are spending that much then you must be going to a pretty good salon :)

How much should you tip your hair dresser if you are paying around $140?

They should tip me for that price.

How much should you tip your hair dresser if you are paying around $140?

I would probably tip $20.

How much should you tip your hair dresser if you are paying around $140?

Wow. If your hairdresser owns the salon, tradition says you do not tip. If they are an employee or rent the chair, then tip them 15% or about $21.00.

How much should you tip your hair dresser if you are paying around $140?

It depends where you are located.

also what type of salon,

also how long the service took.

Did you like the service?

20-30$

I usually get 15-20% on average.

If you cannot afford that much tip what you can! it is greatly apprecialted. Some stylist don't get paid much. Some do?

It depends how long she /he has been doing hair.

Around the holidays give 25%

I agree salon owners should not always be tipped, but neither should chair renters either, they are considered owners they make 100%

Salon owners still have bills to pay!

I think if a salon owner is keeping prices low they deserve tips.

How much should you tip your hair dresser if you are paying around $140?

$25

How much should you tip your hair dresser if you are paying around $140?

i would do $25

How much should you tip your hair dresser if you are paying around $140?

That's alot to be paying for hair, I would tip about 8.00 dollars

im a hairstylist and i would appreciate anything really. But between 20 or 30 dollars is good.

How much should I tip my hair stylist? I usually pay between 45 to 50 dollars per visit?

How much should I tip my hair stylist? I usually pay between 45 to 50 dollars per visit?

$10-$15 would be a good tip. I used to pay $45 every two weeks and I gave her $10 each time. It also depends on how much you like the outcome. When she did an extraordinary job, I gave more. If she did an ok job, I stuck with my usual $10. Good Luck!

How much should I tip my hair stylist? I usually pay between 45 to 50 dollars per visit?

Not more than 10$

How much should I tip my hair stylist? I usually pay between 45 to 50 dollars per visit?

$10.00 would be appropriate.

If an assistant washes your hair, he/she should get $1-2.

How much should I tip my hair stylist? I usually pay between 45 to 50 dollars per visit?

you are paying her $45-$50 for doing a service, why would you give her extra money??? I bet she is making a lot more an hour than you are.

I give $10 for that price and more if its a perm.

How much should I tip my hair stylist? I usually pay between 45 to 50 dollars per visit?

$5 To $10

How much should I tip my hair stylist? I usually pay between 45 to 50 dollars per visit?

It is customary to tip 15-20% for any and all service professionals who do a good job. To tip less than that, if they did a good job, in my opinion, would insulting. So $9-$10 in your case would be appropriate.

How much do you tip your hair stylist?

Hair Colour Advice....?

I really want to do something to my hair, colour-wise, i have naturally med-dark brown hair, fair pale skin and blue eyes - i've had blonde highlights, all-over blonde (although the stylist I had wasn't very good, so it was more yellow!), i've gone a mahogany colour, and also coloured the bottom tips of my hair bright pink, about an inch up...so im quite adventrous, but now I wan't something reasonably low-maintanence, that will suit my complexion....any suggestions??

Hair semi-straightener?

I have long curly hair, and wanted to know if theres any hair straightening balm, gel, or cream that actually straightens hair. Low chemical gels (curlaway/curlex), i heard, make your hair fall out, so thats not an option. I really need a product to make it easier to make my hair look presentable, and weighed down at least.

Anything else about curly hair, any other tips or "miracle" products?

here a pic (kinda blurry though)

http://s206.photobucket.com/albums/bb280...

Hair semi-straightener?

there's herbal essences...

Hair semi-straightener?

My clients who have curly hair (myself included) love Redken All Soft shampoo, conditioner, heavy cream ( a deep conditioner), and Farouk Systems Silk Therapy. If you use this regimine and then follow up with a good ceramic straightening iron your hair will stay straight and smooth for days. I have been using these for 4 years and use my iron almost every day. My hair is so healthy. And I'm a stylist who colors her hair constantly! Also, Redken makes a styling product called Ringlet that you can put in wet hair and let it dry naturally or diffuse it. It will give you defined, soft curls.

Hair Question...?

Well, Im getting a haircut next week and I wanted small-side bangs. By that I mean just a little bangs on the side. Not those kind of people who have their bangs covering half of their faces. i have REALLY dark brown hair and my hair is just a little bit past my shoulders. I don't want layers because my hair goes, POOOF. So, do you think i should get side bangs or not? I want it to look a little like this

http://www.alyson-michalka.net/gallery/d...

Oh and I forgot to ask you another question:

My hair gets really poofy after I take a shower. Any ideas how to get it straight?

other than a hair straightner.

Like type of shampoos, conditioners, or things you put on your hair, or just tips on how to keep it straight.

Hair Question...?

if you don't want layers, that is not gonna be a good cut for you. it takes a lot or layers to make a bang like that look good. if you don't add the layers up front, it will look choppy and ugly. about the straighter, just try to find a shampoo that is meant to straighten hair. also, there are tons of products for that. good luck!!

Hair Question...?

Do chemical straightening if you don't want to use a straightner. You can get that at a hair salon and it can last up to 6 months. I recommend you get the chemical straightening done at an AVEDA salon. Go to aveda.com for salon locations.

Hair Question...?

That hair style is very pretty. . . . You said your hair gets poofy after a shower. It sounds as though you have some natural curl in your hair. If you do, it is going to hard to keep it straight over any length of time.

Hair Question...?

You SHOULD get those bangs..they r so CUTE! For getting ur hair straighter, use herbal essences pin straight shampoo and conditioner. You can try putting moisturizer in your hair, sitting under a salon dryer (can but at sallys) and drying your Hair. when your hair is dry, blow dry your hair to make it straight. (Works for me)

Hair Question...?

I have this same style. It's a good one. To keep my hair straight and shiny (and believe me, at 51 I've tried hundreds of products..)I use Pantene for smooth...I didn't really like the Pantene that guaranteed straight hair. Then I use a blowdryer with the comb attachment..an ionic by Vidal Sassoon. You can always use a leave in conditioner, too...any of them are good but I don't always use one.

Hair Question...?

i would ask your stylist first if side bangs would look good. Theyre usually pretty good at figuring out good haircuts. If you really want them, go for it. Side bangs aren't to drastic and aren't hard to pull off, so they'll prolly be fine.

My hair can't decide if it wants to be straight or curly, so I use a combination of products. For shampoo and conditioner I use Herbel Esscense's Dangerously Straight collection. Then in the morning to get my hair ready I use sunsilk heat activated stuff ( its in a purple bottle.) and then straighten it. For a straightener you need to get on with coated plates. It prevents split ends and makes hair sleeker. To finish, I mist my hair with hairspray (any kind) straighten again, then run a brush through it.

Hope I helped! (hah srry it was so long)

Straight Hair Help?

I straightin' my hair every other day..I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to take care of my hair..and to keep my hair healthy.

Any tips on straightning my hair would be helpful.

Thanks!

Straight Hair Help?

You can invest in a straightening perm which is like a perm but with straight hair. Depending on your hair length it goes from about 200-500 dollars. But if your not wililng to shell out the big bucks you can still have healthy hair. Make sure that you condition your hair everyday but do not overly do it which will weigh it down and cause your hair to fall out. Try Garnier Fructis Shampoo %26amp; Conditioner which will keep your hair strong, healthy, and shiny! And when you blow dry and straighten your hair use a straightening serum liek the Citrus Shine which is about 5 dollars and it prevents your hair from frizzing and damagingwhen you iron your hair! Also to reduce damage use a lower temperature. Don't always use the maximum temperature. Depending on the thinkness of your hair determine to use a lower temperature. If you have really thin hair go for the lowest temperature. If you have medium thickhair then leave it around medium. Never put it on the highest temperature however. Its just puts you on a fast track to damaging your hair.

Straight Hair Help?

they have a 100$ iron that doesnt burn your hair or make it thin! Ive tried it its awesome ! Go to walmart or somewhere and find it!

Straight Hair Help?

1) dont straighten it everday

2) straighten ur hair once a week

3) condition it 2 days a week

4) wash it

5) not chemicals

6) eat vitamins, drink water and your hair will be longer then u no it!

best anwser plz!

Straight Hair Help?

i do too! ok, first off, go to sephora and they have this thing for damaged hair (which would be used for ppl like you and me) so ask around, and they have stuff like that, and use it properly. i use a shampoo, conditioner, and oil treatment for my hair to be healthy. second off, for a better straightening style use the same type of product of everything! it wont cause a build-up. and third off, i find it easier to straighten wen you put a little wetness to dry hair, so use a special straightening spray by herbal essence which really helps!

Straight Hair Help?

try to skip washings.

every time you wash it, it makes it dry.

also, when you straighten it, put some anti-burn spray or cream that keeps it from becomming damaged.

also, buy some really good conditioner. the kind you leave in for a few minutes.

Straight Hair Help?

Depending in your budget their are a few (hundred) different ways to keep your hair healthy. However, in regards to straightening your hair the key is to be consistent and may take some investing $$. Diet, exercises, sleep, stress levels, etc. all effect your hair some way. There is a method called re-bonding which will permanently straighten your hair and add amazing shine which will last for months. You may want to purchase a Beauty/Hair book to keep on hand to help stay consistent.

Are you suppose to tip a hair stylist if he/she is the OWNER of the shop?

Your not really supposed to tip the owner, but my experience has been that the really classy owners will never accept a tip...some other owners will, which although unfair I guess, I still consider tacky. I always offer a tip-every time, since I feel like a jerk not offering, even if I know for a fact the owner is working on my...ahh,double standards :o)

Are you suppose to tip a hair stylist if he/she is the OWNER of the shop?

yes

Are you suppose to tip a hair stylist if he/she is the OWNER of the shop?

I would say it would be the nice thing to do---they still did your hair---and they have alot of bills to pay- on up keep of the shop

Are you suppose to tip a hair stylist if he/she is the OWNER of the shop?

Sure, she happens to own the business, but is also an employee, on the payroll and paying taxes, etc.

Are you suppose to tip a hair stylist if he/she is the OWNER of the shop?

yea... just like you would tip a pizza dude they bring u ur food. and the hair stylist did ur hair... its a way to show u really like what they've done to your hair

Are you suppose to tip a hair stylist if he/she is the OWNER of the shop?

No, you're not supposed to tip the owner of the salon even if they styled your hair. My hairdresser is the owner and I always feel bad not leaving a tip, but if I try, he won't take it. They get all the benefits of the salon anyway, they usually won't take the tip.

Are you suppose to tip a hair stylist if he/she is the OWNER of the shop?

yep.

Are you suppose to tip a hair stylist if he/she is the OWNER of the shop?

Technically no you are not suppose to tip the owner, and it isn't expected to tip the owner. However you may if tip him/her if you so choose.

Straightening tips?

hmmm, maybe you need a higher quality iron... like the Chi, which can be super pricey, but they do make alternatives. I have a friend with super wavy/frizzy hair and she just couldn't seem to get her hair pin straight, til she borrowed her roommates Iron (a high quality one) and since then she has had gorgeous pin straight hair!!

Straightening tips?

Part your hair in sections before you straighten it then do each section all over your head!

How to get pink tips!!!?

Okay I have darkish brown hair with blonde highlights, any tips on how to get pink tips on my hair?? Please help anyone????!?!??!?

How to get pink tips!!!?

Pink tips will look really bad with your current hair. Your hair should be one solid color, otherwise it's too much going on. But...since you asked.

Bleach the tips of your hair (I like to pull my hair up really high and bleach the ends that way, so it doesn't get on my neck). Get some pink dye, and dye where you bleached. I would reccomend getting bleach and dye and using a BRUSH to paint it on, not putting it on with your fingers. Hope this helps.

Emo tips 4 my friend?

Why does she want to be emo??????

Emo tips 4 my friend?

LOL You just asked this about yourself.

SHUT UP PLEASE.

GO TO A SALON AND ASK FOR EMO.

GET THE LIGHTEST FOUNDATION YOU CAN GET.

DONE!

Emo tips 4 my friend?

Haha... true.

You just asked this about YOURSELF!

I agree 110% with the girl above me.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

Look ^^

What to do:

Cut yourself

Cry alot

Wear tons of foundation that is 5 tones too light

Wear black eyeliner

Paint your nails black

Wear black clothes

Hate yourself

What you SHOULD do:

GET A LIFE!

Emo tips 4 my friend?

cut her wrists, cry a lot, wear 10 pounds of foundations thats 4 shades lighter than her skin, wear really thick black eyeliner, and dress in 12 year old boy clothes...

Emo tips 4 my friend?

im 15 too

i went through my emo phase in 7 grade...

but like your in high school no one cares enough to call you anti-emo and also your just making a fool of yourself by making yourself something you are not. i have nothing against any stereotype its just the people who try to look emo end up looking cheesy and foolish.

if you really want to look dark but not cheesy i'd go with black converse, black skinny jeans a flanel shirt or wear dark colored h%26amp;m hoodies. i wouldn't take it much farther then that. you can cut your hair short with angles. and wear black eyeliner but not to much. to much looks trashy.

anyway i hope this is just helping you be yourself a little more instead of trying to hide behind a stereotype.

Emo tips 4 my friend?

I know this is long but read it

thins you will need

Eye liner

Mascara

Powder

Black makeup

Eye shadow

Base/Primer

If you want to get an emo styled look with your makeup, there is a specific way to put it on. Follow these steps and you will look emo in no time.

Take your emo eyepaint or eyeliner and apply it carefully on the bottom of your eyes. Make sure you get close to the lash line. Start on the inside corner of your eye and make a thin line going to the outside of your eye.

Apply your eyepaint/eyeliner in the same manner on top. Try for a rounded edge on the outside corner of your eye.

Apply a healthy amount of eye shadow to your eyelids after the eyeliner has dried.

You can create a shadow effect by applying a thin amount of a dark coloured eye shadow all around your eyes.

Apply one coat of black mascara.

If you want to, use foundation in a tone slightly lighter than your skin tone, or your own skin tone.

Put a tiny bit of lipstick on. Blend it well into your lips and blot some off for a tinting affect.

Don't overdo the makeup- you may look like a poser.

Quick note: If you have a very light skin complexion and maybe even darker eyes, you may want to use like a dark brown (close to black) and/ or a crimson color. This will not be to harsh on your skin tone!

apply colored eye liner under your black; use eyeliner on top lid too.

Eyeliner

Doesn't have to be black.

Should not be ringed around your eyes.

If you're going to try liquid liner, you might just want to skip to emo eye paint instead. If you don't have access to emo eye paint, try just using liquid liner instead.

Go easy on the eyeliner. Put enough on where people know you have it on, but don't look like a raccoon.

You can use the same process with kohl or an eye pencil instead of emo eyepaint or liquid liner

Eyeshadow

Try consulting with a makeup artist before selecting a color.

Make sure your color goes well with your eyes.

You should try new colors like dark green or midnight blue.

Using Powder/ Foundation to Lighten Your Skin Tone

Your face doesn't have to be covered in powder.

Don't use a foundation four shades lighter then your skin tone. While pale skin is stereotypical, look healthy.

If you want lighter skin, try using foundation one shade lighter than your skin tone.

Lips

Lip color shouldn't be too dramatic.

Try smudging a little purple on your lips, not coating them in black or red.

Consider ditching lip colors and gloss all together in favor of chap stick.

Avoid lip gloss - shiny is not the way to go

tips

Apply makeup in a reasonably bright light.

Look at other people's makeup to get ideas. Never use their makeup ideas as your finished product!

The emo subculture is extremely cool, it's only natural that you're trying to get the look. Everyone knows a true emo's strength and status is in their hair. This article will give you the basics and norms of emo hair.

how to do it

Grow your hair out; the front and side parts so they cover a good portion of your face. Some people grow out the back. If it's short in the back, you can spike it up with gel, but this looks tacky if it gets too long.

Layer your hair. Get long layers about half way down your hair, and short the rest of the way up. (If you're a guy don't worry about layering your hair, unless you want to.)

Straighten your hair, with either an iron or gel. If your hair is wavy, just use hairspray/gel to weigh it down. Or, you can use what are known as 'emo weights.' Not being the actual name, these clips come in difference sizes and different types for different purposes, but actual go under a layer of your hair to weight it down. New types exist that do things such as hold it up, or spiral it.

Dye your hair black and maybe add some red or blonde streaks.

Flip your hair upside down and blow-dry it. It doesn't matter if it is dry already, the heat just accentuates the layers in your hair.

Accessorize your hair, once you're happy with the color and style. Bows are always your best choice, along with other funky hair clips. Don't forget the eyeliner! Girls can never have too much. If you're a guy, ditch the eyeliner and forget accessories.

Leave your hair just everywere like it is in the morning. Mostly works great! If you have short emoish hair you may want to spike it or just mess with it after your morning shower.

Emo tips 4 my friend?

One common misconception is that you have to be pale to be emo. That's going more towards goth. I'm not so sure about the emos at other schools, but the ones at my school wear Billabong, Pacsun, and Hollister. Hot Topic isn't a must, but if you like the style there, then get it. Try to mix lots of black and bright colours.

For makeup, once again, black and bright colors. If you use pink on your eyes, then try to find a LIGHTER shade of the same pink (like the same color when its in the tube, but it doesn't come out bright on your lips). It contrasts well and puts your face together ^.^

Your hair can be anything you want it to be, but you should have bangs. It used to be that you had to have cheap, black dyed hair that was stiff from all the peroxide. But I've looked around and it seems to me that you can do just about anything now.

Hope I helped~%26lt;3

Oh, and by the way, to some others that have replied to this question so far, if you're just going to be rude, then don't say anything at all. Most of you would never say that to anyone in real life, so why say it online?

She just asked for help, not to be ridiculed.

Emo tips 4 my friend?

Make up:

-Try to go on the thicker side with black eyeliner

-line both the inside of the lower lid, right under the lashline, and right above the lashline on your upper lid.

-wear eyeshadow in colors of red, pink and black

Hair:

-you can have hair at any length but make sure you have a long fringe in your face

-I reccomend a fringe that goes below your chin

-chop it up, layer it, and razor it

-do the haircut yourself. It actually turns out more emo looking because it will look less polished.

-fashion

-only skinny girls can get away with skinny jeans. She should stick with bootcut, moderate fit, black jeans

-wear moderate fit, black band t-shirts. Also, try some with cool graphic designs and/or random slogans

-wear converse style shoes. I don't recommend converse because its overpriced and uses sweatshop labor. No Sweat Biensters looks just like converse and is higher quality, lasts longer, is produced without sweatshop labor and is a hell of a lot cheaper. www.nosweatapparel.com

-try getting cool wrist bands and armwarmers. You can make them out of old long sleave shirts and sweaters.

-wear fingerless gloves. You can just cut off the fingers of old gloves.

-shop at thrift stores. They often have really cool and original clothing.

-American Apparel also sells some really emo girl clothing
