How can i lighten up my dyed brown hair?

I used an at home hair dye pack that was supposed to be lightest ash brown n its gone dark brown. Can i put peroxided tips in my hair or will it turn orange? I cant afford to got to the salon and am scared if i go ask a hairdresser they will tell me that they can do it for me. I dyed my hair from blonde to brown to give it a rest from peroxide because it started getting damaged. Am i causing too much more damage by tipping it, is tipping less harmful then full all over dying with peroxide??

yes, it will cause more damage to tip it. the ends split first so thats just going to damage them more! i would go get a light brown dye from sallys, and use a 10 volume developer, its deposit only. and fyi dont use ash, it makes it darker. use natural or gold base:) it will only cost about $10

Leave it alone for a little while.. Your hair was probably damaged. When hair is damaged the cuticle opens up.. When you added the color into your hair your hair sucked it up, looking to fill the particles that were lost due to your prior hair coloring.. When they say hair will be certain colors they usually base it a hair color lvl 6.. Which is a light brown.. You're hair color will fade. Just give it time. I hope you aren't using only peroxide to color your hair??? For you to cut thru brown hair color you need to use hair bleach. And so you don't further damage your hair it should be trusted to a professional.

Just give your hair some time for now.. Then if need be get a highlighting kit from a beauty supply store and have a friend do it for you, so she can help with the back of your hair.
