Should i get purple highlights or purple tips?

I have straight hair. Right now 2 inches of my roots are my natural colour (dark brown) and the rest of my hair is blonde. I've always dyed my hair a readish colour until i tried the bloned. Now i;m looking for something different. I was thinking of dying ym hair black and have some purple in. Should i get black hair with purple highlights or black hair with purple tips? What do you think would look hotter? Any other ideas for clour would be great too. I'm going to a salon to get this done so i know it will be done right!

well, technically, if they are any color but blonde, they are called low lights... and you should definately get the low lights and not the tips... and do it really sparsely. Too much is going to look over done. Make it discreet :)

I think if your hairs really short you should get tips but if it's long then highlights.

black hair with purple tips adn then throw in some hot pink chunks here and there. that would be fun .

i personally like hot pink with black it is such a nice contrast.

but personaly ive tried a bunch of different colors and stuff in my hair, you have to beable to work with things, but most deff. you should get purple tips, because purple highlights would totally drain out your face.

if u have really light skin you shouldnt dye your hair balck then u look extreamy pale so i guess get dark brown like it looks black but its not that dark and then purple streaks.. btw i was going to do that but i have black hair nd i see girls wit blach hair but it looks akward on them you know?

i think black hair with tips. a lot of people have black hair with purple or other colored highlights right now. maybe you can put a couple of puple highlights in your bangs[if you have any] and the tips purple too :]
